Meet Our Specialists

Laurie Bishton, BC-HIS is a Board Certified Hearing Instrument Specialist and has been a NYS registered hearing aid dispenser since 1996. She is experienced in advanced testing and counseling of the hearing impaired and the dispensing of hearing aids. She is a member of the International Hearing Society (IHS) and the American Hearing Aid Associates (AHAA).

Founding principal of Hamilton Hearing, Laurie has helped thousands of patients receive quality, professional help for their hearing loss. In 2014, Laurie made a decision to open up her private practice so that those who need help can find a place where there is compassionate, professional advice to provide the very best in hearing healthcare.

“We have a different approach here at Hamilton Hearing that isn’t found at the big name franchises. As a small, independent practice, I have the time to focus on what is best for the patient.

"I look at hearing loss and how it affects our overall wellness. Untreated hearing loss affects so many aspects of a person’s life: it puts strain on the relationships they have with their family and friends and sometimes even causes depression, anxiety and social withdrawal. We treat all our patients with empathy, compassion and respect. I love getting to personally know each of them, and oftentimes, their family members, as well. Our patients don’t live in a bubble; they interact with the world around them, and it’s my job to make that interaction easier and more pleasant for them AND their families.”

Laurie grew up in Cazenovia and attended Alfred University, Syracuse University and the University of Oklahoma. She enjoys walking and hiking the trails on her property, reading, cooking and spending time with her family and friends. She resides in Hamilton with her husband, Robert.  She has 4 children and 4 grandchildren.

Robert is a Board Certified Hearing Instrument Specialist and has been a NYS registered hearing aid dispenser since 1993. He is a member of the International Hearing Society.

He has helped thousands of people, hear and enjoy a better quality of life with the use of properly fit and adjusted hearing instruments.  His patients always received quality, professional help for their hearing loss.

"Untreated hearing loss can lead to not only to depression and social withdrawal but cognitive decline.  In the past decade there has been more and more studies linking a relationship between hearing loss and alzheimer's. Untreated hearing loss, even mild to moderate loss,  is associated with a faster rate of cognitive decline."

Rob grew up in Ilion and attended Morrisville College. He is an avid deer hunter and enjoys walking, hunting and hiking the trails on his property, listening to music, riding bikes and spending time with his family and friends. He resides in Hamilton with his wife, Laurie.  He has 4 children and 4 grandchildren.

Robert is also the owner of Upstate Hearing Loops, an induction hearing loop installation company.
